Design Brief & Goals
The Help Center in Kendleton sought a modern, approachable website that clearly communicates their mission to provide essential community resources, while making it easy for residents, volunteers, and donors to engage.
Primary goals:
- Highlight the Help Center’s community impact and accessibility
- Present programs and services in a clear, welcoming manner
- Enable staff to manage content independently (CMS-based, modular sections)
- Increase visibility and discoverability for new visitors, volunteers, and donors (SEO-friendly, mobile-first, clear CTAs)
We drew inspiration from organizations that prioritize community engagement, friendly typography, and intuitive navigation to guide users toward meaningful action.
Visual Design Approach
Branding & Contextual Details
- Incorporated subtle Kendleton and regional elements (local landmarks, program imagery) to reinforce community connection
- Messaging aligned with the Help Center’s ethos: welcoming, service-oriented, and solution-focused
Technical & UX Highlights
- Responsive & Mobile-First: Ensured high-priority actions such as “Register Here” and “Donate”” remain prominent on all devices
- CMS & Content Flexibility: Built in WordPress with modular blocks allowing staff to easily update programs, events, announcements, and multimedia content
- Performance Optimization: Optimized imagery, lazy-loading for below-the-fold content, and CSS minimization for fast load times
- SEO & Local Engagement: Nonprofit and local service structured data, Kendleton-specific keywords (“community resources Kendleton TX”, “volunteer programs Kendleton”), meta tags, and canonicalization
- Accessibility: WCAG AA compliant, alt-text for images, keyboard-navigable menus
- Analytics & Conversion Tracking: Google Analytics integrated for tracking key actions (volunteer sign-ups, donations, service requests)
- Security & Hosting: HTTPS enforced, secure forms, automated backups, and optimized caching
Results & Impact
- Visitors now experience a clear engagement pathway (Homepage → Programs → Volunteer/Donate/Request Help)
- Staff gain autonomy to update content, highlight new initiatives, and feature community stories without developer support
- Expected results: increased volunteer enrollment, higher donation clicks, improved service request engagement, stronger mobile engagement
The redesigned site positions Help Center Kendleton as a professional, trusted, and community-focused nonprofit while delivering an accessible, welcoming, and intuitive online experience.
